Title Research and Connotations
Friday the 13th (1980)
The Friday the 13th titles show that the film will be very basic and not psychological at all. Throughout the trailer, the titles are very plain and include the numbers up until 13, where the title of "Friday the 13th" breaking through some glass. This title showed how that the film would be based around the day of Friday the 13th and that it has connotations of unfortunate events. In this case being death or mutilation by a psychopath.

Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)
This is again quite a simple title as it only consists of 5 words and is rather plain. "A nightmare" is written in red which symbolises death, danger, blood and war, this could link to what is going to happen in the movie, giving a clue to the actual plot or which the 'killer' is. The "on elm street" is written in which is a stark contrast to the red as it symbolises purity and innocence, which could suggest who is going to die, in the case the 'victim.

The Grudge (2004)
The titles in The Grudge (2004) are very different to the traditional way that titles go. The smooth parts of the trailer are accompanied with a more of a calm title background with calm titles. But when the trailer becomes more fast-paced, the titles continue to change and too become a lot faster. The backgrounds also include the hair of the antagonist of the film to show that one of the more defining features of it will be its long hair and its speed.

Oculus (2014)
The trailer for Oculus has 4 noticeable titles. To start is the 2 distribution and 2 production companies. These flash up quickly so as to not distract from the footage being shown. The next title shown is a message saying what famous horror films have been made by the producers before, so as to instill the idea of trust, in this being a good horror film. Finally we have the name of the horror film itself 'Oculus'
