Time of Day and Location Choices
Low level lighting is very often used in horror films to create a creepy mysterious atmosphere, as darkness is usually associated with evil. Darkness also makes people feel more vulnerable and threatened as they are unable to see as much and people fear the unseen and unknown. They also use many shadows, which we could use in both lights in the day. These being during the night and using a mysterious moonlight kind of lighting, or in the middle of the day in a shot which would go against the stereotypes of many horror films.
The locations in which we are planning to use are rather varied but most will be filmed within the school premises. The other location we are planning to use is a local dance studio in the city centre. We want our film to be obviously about a dancer but also want to show they are all students as well to show the stereotype of young females being butchered, and being the overall protagonist within the film.
