Distribution Companies
Once a movie has been made it needs to go to a distribution company in order for it to be seen. The Distribution company is in charge of creating hype for the new film and also getting it into the cinemas.
You will often find that distribution companies have images of either the sky or the world in order to show that they will reach around the globe and everyone will see this film.
You will often find that distribution companies have images of either the sky or the world in order to show that they will reach around the globe and everyone will see this film.
Warner Bros. Pictures is another example of a production company set in the sky. The Sky is seen by all, and so gives the message that all will see this film. It starts with an old fashioned clip of an old row of factories, before transforming into the WB symbol. This symbolises that they have been around for a long, time and because of that you automatically trust that the films they produce will be good. Finally they use the colour gold which is associated with quality. Warner Bros is an American film, television and music production company, founded on the 4th of April 1923. Its founders are Sam Warner, Albert Warner, Harry Warner and Jack Warner, hence 'Warner Bros. pictures'. LIONSGATE uses the sky in order to show unity in the world as they can all see the sky. This unity shows worldwide distribution. It also used shots of the locking mechanic of a door before it opens in the sky, almost like the doors to heaven. This sends the message that it will be a good product. Dreamworks, uses two key ideas in their animation. They start off with using water, which is very easy to find due to 70% of the planet being covered i it. Then it pans up to the sky. The use of two items that can be seen almost everywhere, optimises their target audience and message of widespread. Dreamworks also does something unique with their music. Whenever they have produced/distributed a film they change the music in order to better fir the genre. Sometimes they even make the animation darker so that the clouds look as if they will rain. DreamWorks, is an American film production company which produces and develops films, television programming, and video games. It was also a former film distributor for its own and third-party films.

This ident features the camera pan down to a mountain, this is a far fetch but it could be interpreted that the films they distribute are 'out of this world' due to the fact the ident start from above the skyline and pans down to a unique sight of a single mountain. It should also be noted that the mountian is surronded by a ring of stars, this could be a coicidence that it looks the same shape as the planet, which means that the company is also implying they distribute around the world.
Conclusion
In conclusion we decide to use the ident for Universal Pictures as the one we would use in our final trailer. We decided to do this due to the fact that they used to produce horror movies under the 'Universal Monsters' label this would indicate that they would be distributing our horror movie as a way of returning to their routes. In recent years Universal has returned to creating horror films with releases such as 'Dracula Untold' releasing last year with 'The Mummy' and 'The Wolf Man' intending on being released in 2017. With a return to their routes universal would be more likely to explore new horror ideas and support them in order to make them classics to sit amongst the ranks of their critically acclaimed horror films. Another factor as to why we chose Universal is due to their reputation within the industry, by having one major distributor backing our film would reflect positively on our horror film as most horror films in recent years usually have multiple distribution companies backing them to make the risk of failure have less of a damage on them financially. Therefore by having one distributor would be a positive implication for our movie as movie-goers would see that Universal has faith in our product indicating the overall quality of the film.
