Today we began to discuss ideas on what to base our swede trailer on. After a lengthy discussion we came to the conclusion that we would try and recreate a trailer of 'The Blair Witch Project'. We decided on this idea as it is a genre defining example of found footage horror films, by recreating this trailer it would allow us to experiment with a different style of filming so we can decide on what would be best for us to use when it comes to filming our final trailer.

Today we began researching into sounds used in trailers. I was tasked with analyzing 'Knock Knock' I noticed that the use of a haunting soundtrack added to the experience of watching the trailer and when tension rose the soundtrack and selected dialogue added to that. It's clear that sound is a key component to a successful trailer as it engages the audience more than it would if it was just a compilation of short clips with no contextual sound.
After researching film soundtracks I stumbled upon a viral video of the final scene from Star Wars IV: A New Hope without John William's soundtrack playing and the final result is an extremely awkward scene, which isn't that entertaining to watch. Therefore I believe that are decisions on what sounds of soundtracks we use for are open title sequence are just as important as the shots, angles and movements we use.

Today we began to conduct audience research based on the viewing habits of users of different online platforms, I contributed to the IMDb, Metacritic and Lovefilm pages as those were the platforms I was most familiar with using.
Edit: over the course of the next few days I've worked away on other aspects of the website such as horror theory research, distribution company research and production company research however there is much I can write here which doesn't just copy what I wrote on those pages and therefore I felt wasn't worth entering 3 short blog entries.

We finished the written questionnaire of our audience research but decided we should interview different people and conduct audience interviews, we have currently just finished filming our final interviewee and plan to begin editing after discussing ideas and concepts for our final trailer.

Me and Clara are currently half way through editing the audience interviews and personally it is paid off to do this as it allows us to become familiar with using the editing software once again after not using it for a few months. Our discussion yesterday was interesting as it allowed us to here one another's ideas however I don't think we've come to a solid conclusion just yet, which is fine as we have the summer break to discuss and finalize an idea.
Additionally, Clara has managed to film a few shots for our swede trailer however we have decided leave filming our swede until after the holidays because to get the shots we want it'd be best to leave it until it was darker so we can get filming done easily rather than wait until a ridiculous time until the sun goes down to start filming.

Haven't been up to much on the site in ways on work however I did edit a short fan trailer of a film a couple of days ago just to experiment with fast paced editing and using short cuts which are used a lot in trailers as a chance to get used to what will be expected when it comes to editing our final project.
